TESAURO DE PLANTAS MEDICINALES - BILINGÜE

Schinopsis lorentzii (Griseb.) Engl.

Nota de alcance

PARTE UTILIZADA= Used part: Hojas.

ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Anti-asmático.

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Three indole alkaloids, hydroxy-deltaI-aspidospermidine, (+) eburnamonine and (-) eburnamine were isolated from the leaves and stems of Schinopsis lorentzii Griseb. They are isolated by different chromatog. techniques and identified by their phys. and spectroscopic characters. Screening for the cytotoxic activity of the alkaloidal exts. of stems and leaves of Schinopsis lorentzii Griseb showed 60%, 30%, 10% inhibition of Erlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) tumor cells for stem ext. (100, 50, 25 ug/100 mL) and 50%, 20% for leaves ext. (100, 50 ug/100 mL) in-vitro.

ZONA GEOGRÁFICA= Geografical zone: Sur de Bolivia, norte y centro de Argentina.

ÚLTIMOS AVANCES EN LA QUÍMICA Y ACTIVIDADES BACTERIOLÓGICAS EN LAS PLANTAS MEDICINALES= Medicinal plants, last advances on chemistry and bacteria activities on the medicinal herbs

1) The demand for biol. active compds. of natural origin is now of great importance for their selectivity, biodegrdn. and safety for certain extent.  Investigation of oil constituents of leaves of Schinopsis lorentzii Griseb, as well as oils of leaves and fruits of Schinopsis balansae Engl. was carried out using GC/MS anal.  The antitumor activity of the essential oils under investigation against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma cells in- vitro was carried out where a significant activity was achieved by each of these oils, while, on testing for the cytotoxic activity of these oils against the human tumor cell lines U25, (brain tumor cell line) and Hela (cervix carcinoma cell line) using SRB assay, Schinopsis balansae Engl. leaves oil showed good cytotoxic activity while the fruits oil as well as Schinopsis lorentzii Griseb. leaves oil showed no cytotoxic activity.  Schinopsis balansae Engl. leaves oil showed moderate antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureas, Streptococcus species, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeroginosa, and neg. effect against Sarcina lutea, Mycobacterium phlei, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans and Candida tropicalis, while Schinopsis balansae Engl. fruits oil and Schinopsis lorentzii Griseb. leaves oil showed no activity against the tested microorganisms and fungal strains.
